About the artist

Living and working in the wonderful landscape of the Pennine Moors, Yorkshire, England, there is so much to inspire at every turn, from the bleak rough moorland to the softer agricultural scenery of the lower valleys.

Works produced through drawing and painting express an interaction with the landscape that interprets not just the living surface of the land but the vast, unknown that lies beneth, physically and emotionally.

I try to make images that have a resonance. That hold shadows we can feel. That pull from our depths a past greater than our own, bringing recognition of our own weakness and failings. To loose our individuality in the vastness of history, of all that has existed, to feel everything and nothing.

As an artist, I create art that explores a considered reflection upon the history and nature of human existence, our relationship and interaction with the eternalness of land in the vastness of time.

Biography

Born in Sheffield in 1959.

Freelance Designer 1987 - 1997,

Senior Lecturer in Art, Design & Textiles 1991 - 2008.

A member of 'Pennine Artists', the visual arts group that has drawn together artists and makers from the disparate villages in the South Pennines.
